The United Nations Security Council "Power of Veto" refers to the power that the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council have which enables them to prevent to adoption of any draft resolution presented by nation. It can be used no matter the level of international support the resolution has gained. The Veto is used whenever a negative vote is cast on a draft resolution by a permanent member of the United Nations and automatically causes the resolution to fail.

The five permanent members are China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and The United States.
